birdhouse.gif (24913 bytes)recycle.gif (2651 bytes)Using a simple egg carton, this is a great way to help our feathered friends.

What you need:

  • Egg carton
  • String
  • Birdseed

What to do:

  1. Remove the lid and save for another use ( to hold paints like a palate for example).
  2. Fill the carton sections with birdseed.
  3. Poke holes in the 4 corners of the carton and attach a string to each. Then gather the strings together at the center, knot, and hang the feeder outside.

Bagel Bird Feeder
bagelbirdfeeder.jpg (14820 bytes)These terrific birdfeeders are a excellent project for children at home and in the classroom. One crafter named Tensie said, "We have a 4, 3, 1 and newborn in this household.  We love to watch the birds and clouds and the neighborhood resident squirrel.  This feeder is good because it does not put SO much seed out in the yard that I am growing it all IN the yard when they drop it all on the grass.  Plus our little guys can do this almost by themselves!  They love to be IN control of an activity sometimes."

Spring Sneakers
spring.jpg (2905 bytes)I have done this with my daughters a number of times and it's a blast! It is an inexpensive and personal way to make wearing sneakers really special. All you need to do is buy a pair of canvas sneaks (they have them at craft stores) and fabric paints. You can use seam lace for the laces or for extra color paint right on the included shoe laces. Put spring in your step and have your kids make these fun shoes.
