This
week's Craft of the Week features an adorable Easter bonnet for the kids to make.
The great part about this craft is that the kids can decorate their hats as they please
using flowers, ribbons etc...
Don't forget to have an Easter Parade after finishing! What you need:
- paper plates
- acrylic paints
- white craft glue and/or glue stick
- colored paper
- glitter
- hole punch
- yarn
- stickers
- tissue paper
- silk flowers
- beads
- buttons
- stapler
What you do:
- Give each child a plate and punch two holes at opposite ends
and tie yarn so that the "Hat" can be secured and tied under the child's chin.
- Put out all the other supplies in such a way as all the kids
can get to them. Encourage the kids to use different materials to decorate their
hats.
- They can add flowers in the center, punch holes around the
edges and hang cut out shapes from yarn tied through the holes, they can make their own
tissue paper flowers and glue them to the hat and add glitter for some sparkle. Let them
be creative, and have fun!!

Use a bucket
instead....

To make a great Easter Bonnet find a bucket that fits one's head. Using the
upside down bucket as a mold, take pieces of newspaper and smooth over bucket. The pieces
that extend past the rim can be cut to form the rim of the "hat". Decorate with
paint, flowers, etc. all in spring colors. This is a great activity to do with kids. My
Preschool group did these a Thanksgiving
for pilgrim hats. Of course, we painted ours in fall colors. |
